Documentary (in Norwegian): Taken by Everest

toppenskiIn the spring 2006 Tormod Granheim and Tomas Olsson set off to the greatest mountain of them all; Everest, in an attempt to be the first ever to ski down the north side. Sadly only Tormod returned home. Tomas disappeared 500 meters below the summit. The documentary made by Sherpafilm Norway shows in depth what happened in the record attempt. It’s a great movie, but sadly in Norwegian, so it’s a treat for our local readers. But if your interested in more information about the expedition check these links.

The debate has been on for quite some time if climbing should be a part the games. There’s no doubt that climbing is just as much a sport as for example Bobsledding, but the question is probably more if the climbers  want it to be part of it? Click here to read an article from august where Climbhard.com discusses the pros and cons of climbing being a part of the Olympics.

It’s painful, you can’t climb, your friends leaves you behind at the warm-up routes, while they push up their longtime projects. Eventually you stop climbing and start a climbingsite online instead.  Check out the BLOG-post above and discuss: Is bouldering more damaging to the tendons than ropeclimbing?
